Speaking in a press meet on Sunday, comedy artist Raghu Babu warned everyone, saying that those who troll the movie Kannappa will face the wrath of Lord Shiva. "They will be cursed. All of them will be cursed 100%," Raghu Babu declared. Although Manchu Vishnu, the film's hero, writer and producer, didn't utter those words, it is likely that he agrees with Raghu Babu.
This kind of emotionalism is rare but not novel. When Nagarjuna's classic movie Annamayya was released, a prominent ad put out by his fans assumed a similar threatening tone. A newspaper ad by a fans association at that time said, "Don't spread flop talk against Annamayya and accumulate sin. Cheer for every single scene. Make your life worthy." Raghu Babu's speech has more energy, though.
Back in the day, filmmakers had some sense of decorum and didn't directly make such problematic speeches. Standards have since fallen incredibly. So, they don't need fans to speak out of turn. They themselves can accomplish the job.
