Sankranthiki Vasthunnam will most likely have a sequel. The same has been hinted at by director Anil Ravipudi himself.
In a recent utterance, Ravipudi stated that he plans to make a series of movies with Venkatesh as the hero. A sequel to Sankranthiki Vasthunnam might happen sooner rather than later. In the age of sequels exciting the audience, producers Dil Raju and Shirish would be more than thrilled to produce Sankranthiki Vasthunnam 2.
Comedy entertainers getting sequels is nothing new. It's a trend that is picking up in Telugu cinema. Tillu Square, made as a spiritual sequel to DJ Tillu, was a blockbuster. MAD Square is being made as a sequel to MAD. F3 was a spiritual sequel to F2 (although this was a rare sequel that raked in less moolah than the first part).
This will also be a rare sequel to hit the screens during Sankranthi. Bangarraju was a sequel to Soggade Chinni Nayana.
Sankranthiki Vasthunnam, starring Venkatesh, Meenakshi Chaudhary and Aishwarya Rajesh, was released on January 14. With music by Bheems Ceciroleo, the family entertainer has covered the losses that its producers made from Ram Charan's Game Changer.
