Sankranthiki Vasthunam: Venkatesh Breaks Free from Saindhav Shadow

Last Sankranthi, Victory Venkatesh's Saindhav flopped miserably at the box office. It couldn't withstand competition from HanuMan and Guntur Kaaram. The film's genre didn't suit Venkatesh's image. Director Sailesh Kolanu's failure to come up with exciting content made the matters worse. The film earned less than Rs 4.5 Cr on Day 1.

This Sankranthi, Venky is making a strong comeback. If the advance bookings for Sankranthiki Vasthunam are anything to go by, his film is in for massive openings, especially in the domestic market. The failure of Game Changer has only come as an advantage for the family entertainer.

Three factors are operating in favour of Sankranthiki Vasthunam. Venkatesh's family-hero image is the first of them. The second factor is the popularity of the Anil Ravipudi genre. And the third factor, which is crucial, is the humongous success of the film's songs, especially Godari Gattu. Bheems Ceciroleo's music has made the film more popular than it would otherwise have been.

Godari Gattu, streaming on T-Series Telugu, has so far clocked more than 93 million views. It's telling that this song has done for Sankranthiki Vasthunam more than what the extravagant songs of Game Changer have done for Ram Charan's movie.
