Thandel is scheduled to hit the cinemas on February 7. The movie stars Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi in lead roles. Although it is a pan-Indian movie, it won't find much traction beyond Telugu. Its success in Hindi will be a big deal.
The film's Telugu box office prospects might face some heat from Vidaamuyarchi, starring Ajith in the lead. The action thriller, rumouredly releasing on February 6, might end up eating into the box office share of Thandel if its content is solid.
Ajith's movies haven't had a good run at the Telugu box office for years. Vidaamuyarchi might prove to be an exception if it is a slick action thriller. Even so, the pull of a genre like Thandel, that co-stars Sai Pallavi, is palpably much higher. Thandel also has music by Devi Sri Prasad. If the upcoming songs from the movie make a mark like Bujji Thalli and the Shiva Shakti song, it will further boost the openings of Thandel.
