Mazaka was released this Wednesday. Despite festival holiday release, the movie made do with a gross figure of Rs 3 Cr. The opening-day gross is not overwhelming, considering the stakes involved.
Compared to Sundeep Kishan's previous movies, the opening is definitely good. But the 'word of mouth' is pretty much mixed. Since Sundeep hasn't had a stable and certain market, it would take a lot for Mazaka to break-even.
Up until March 14th, when Kiran Abbavaram's DilRuba and other movies hit the cinemas, Mazaka is not going to face much heat at the box office. The Telugu-dubbed version of Chhaava (Hindi), to be released on March 7th, might not pose much competition to Mazaka. But the film might face unexpected competition from re-releases like Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu.
Mazaka, also starring Rao Ramesh, Murali Sharma, Anshu and Ritu Varma, is directed by Trinadha Rao Nakkina. The director's previous release, Ravi Teja's Dhamaka, was a blockbuster. In contrast, Mazaka pales.
