Veteran art director Soorapaneni Kaladhar, known for his creative art work at the time of vintage technology in Telugu cinema entered the movie industry in 1945 as art director for the film ‘Grihapravesam’ and exhibited his creative work in several classic movies like ‘Pathala Bhairavi’, ‘Maya Bazaar’, ‘Gundamma Katha’, etc. He is no more today as he breathed his last on Saturday evening at his residence in Chennai. He is survived with two daughters. For the past two weeks, Kaladhar was being treated for age-related illness in a private hospital in Chennai and he took his last breath on Saturday evening at his residence in Kodambakkam. As per his family members, his body will be cremated on Sunday. Several senior industry persons including Vijaya Group CEO B Venkatrami Reddy and dance choreographer Sreenu Master have paid their last respects to 98 year old art director.
Born in a village called Yelakapadu near Gudiwada in Krishna district, Kaladhar worked as art director for for hundreds of films including Tamil movies. He worked for almost all movies made on Vijaya banner.
