Senior actress Radha Kumari w/o actor Raavi Kondalrao passed away this morning at her residence in Mothi Nagar, Hyderabad. She was 70. The actress suffered a cardiac arrest at her home early this morning and died. Several celebrities expressed grief over Radha Kumari’s demise and paid their last respects at her residence. Her husband Raavi Kondalrao, who was attending a programme in London rushed back home after hearing to the death news.
Born in Vijayanagaram to a middle class couple Ramana Murthy and Surya Prakasamma, she pursued acting at the age of 12 through stage drama shows and later she entered the film industry. Later she married her costar Raavi Kondalrao and continued to acting career. The couple have one one son named Sashi Kumar.
Radha Kumari, who is well known for grandmother (Baamma) roles, acted in more than 600 films inclusive of all South Indian languages. She was introduced to Telugu film industry by director Adhoorti Subbarao in Tene Manasulu in 1962. ‘Badi Panthulu’, ‘Erra Gulabilu’, ‘Ammayi Pelli’ ‘Rangula Raatnam’, ‘Nuvvulekha Nenu Lenu’, ‘Chandamama’, ‘Okariki Okaru’, ‘King’ ‘Shambo Shiva Shambo’ and ‘Wanted’ are some of her notable films. Gopichand starrer ‘Wanted’ was her last film.
