Tanikella Bharani, a multifaceted artiste is now turning a director with his full length feature film – Midhunam, a story of a middle class retired couple living a happy life. The movie is an adaptation of the novel “Midhunam”, an acclaimed work of Sree Ramana. The novel has been translated into various languages and has won a wide appreciation. Bharani, now brings the characters of Appa Dasu and Buchhi Lakshmi, in his style of narration. He has breathed new life into the characters and has shown a beautiful story of an aged couple, who could be anybody’s parents.

In today’s world, where children are chasing their dreams and moving to high paid fast paced lives, aged parents are feeling left behind and there is a constant tussle because of the changing preferences. It is common for the parents to feel left out and crave for their children’s love. This is where Bharani disagrees, saying that it is not necessary for the previous generation to feel alienated. He says that “Retirement does not mean to retire from work. It rather means to start a new work of your choice”.

Bharani puts across this point which he calls an ‘attached detachment’, with children through his character Appa Dasu, aptly played by S.P.Balasubramanyam. Senior actress Lakshmi plays the role of his wife, Buchhi Lakshmi. The couple lives in their home, after all their responsibilities as parents are fulfilled. Bharani has brought to life, a beautiful story of how this aged couple re-energize their lives and re-cycle their energies. They live to fulfil all those dreams that they couldn’t do earlier.

The movie, ready to release in November, could be an example for all the generations on how to enjoy and live a fulfilled life.

Writer and actor Tanikella Bharani's maiden directorial venture,Midhunam , is all set to release in the month of November , audio is already a great hit, Tanikella was richly felicitated by TANA & many other telugu associations.

In the twilight years, this couple refuse to wallow in self-pity. They have been abandoned by their progeny, who are busy minting money in a foreign country. Far from complaining, they turn unconventional. Midhunam delineates the minds of this couple who spend their lives creatively.
