Nithiin may have scored his fifth consecutive box-office flop with his latest theatrical release, Robinhood. If you count Rang De as a flop, that is. Maestro would have flopped had it been a theatrical release. In other words, nothing exciting has come from Nithiin since Bheeshma, which hit the cinemas in 2020.
The opening-day collections of Robinhood were disappointing this Friday. MAD Square is on an upswing, while Nithiin's movie is at the receiving end of negative talk.
Mythri Movie Makers should have released the movie on a different date. That said, the banner had little choice. December 2024 was taken over by Pushpa 2. January was tight; Sankranthiki Vasthunam and Daaku Maharaaj dominated the scene. February allowed some space after Thandel but the makers felt that their movie deserved a Summer release.
Robinhood's unofficial budget is said to be upwards of Rs 50 crores. Had it not been for the banner's popularity and goodwill, even a good OTT deal might have eluded the movie. Theatrical revenues are expected to be abysmal.
Nithiin is currently doing Thammudu. Yellamma will be next. Both films are produced by Dil Raju. After these two, he will team up with director Vikram K Kumar for an emotional sports drama.
