Recently, producer Dil Raju spoke about the prevalence of the Dawat culture in Telangana. He alluded to the inclination of the people in the State toward boozing and non-veg items like Mutton. While Andhraites love films, Telanganites love partying, he implied. Dil Raju's comments have been deemed to be disrespectful by many.

In a statement today, Dil Raju said that his remarks have been misconstrued. "I haven't insulted the Telangana culture. In fact, I love the Dawat culture here. The brouhaha on social media has come to my notice. I sincerely apologize for the remarks if they have offended you. When I produced Fidaa, which was set in Telangana, it was received well by everyone. That film highlighted the family culture and affection Telanganites shower. Balagam is another of my films that has been loved by the people of Telangana and across the political spectrum. As a resident of the State, I can't imagine mocking its culture," Dil Raju said.

Dil Raju added that he will work towards the development of Telangana as the Chairman of the Telangana Film Development Corporation. "I urge all political parties to not drag me into politics. I am apolitical," the producer said.
