Avatar: Fire and Ash will hit the cinemas worldwide on December 19. Early reviews from special premieres are out. The third installment in James Cameron's epic sci-fi franchise had its world premiere on December 1, 2025.

Courtney Howard: Three films in, James Cameron still has the sauce, making the epic feel emotionally impactful. A glorious saga. Bold, brilliant & awesome in every way, this is what movie theaters were built for.

Big Screen Berkan: This movie has the best emotional sequences of the trilogy, and the visuals are revolutionary. Action sequences are always 10/10. Plot is sometimes repetitive, but overall the movie is always awesome.

Maggie in LA: All the battle scenes are visually stunning and well written. Seeing creatures getting hurt and killed is really heartbreaking. The emotional stake is high.

There are also negative reviews online:

Some journalists have described it as "overstuffed" with "familiar beats," "the same conflicts," and "identical" arcs to The Way of Water, lacking evolution. One X user rated it 6.5/10, predicting a Metacritic dip below 60 due to "how little it adds to the story" and being "emotionally the least effective." Another dismissed it as "mostly a repetitive bore" that "feels pointless," with a "jankier" pace and "bizarre" choices.
