The talk of the town is that producer C Aswini Dutt is planning to direct sequels to 'Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari' and 'Indra', both of which were headlined by Chiranjeevi. Both movies contributed their mite to making Megastar a bigger force to reckon with. Both are classics. Both had great songs. Both minted money like crazy. The staggering success of 'Indra' in 2002 gave the impression that Chiru would eventually take a plunge into politics.
In a recent chit-chat with the team of 'Indra', Dutt said that a sequel to 'JVAS' has been mooted for a long time. He also said that 'Indra 2' will happen some day now that sequels are enjoying a great currency.
These are not even at the ideation stage, though. Who will direct a sequel to 'JVAS'? If it is K Raghavendra Rao, it will be a joke that writes itself. No offence, please! Will it be 'Bimbisara' maker Vassisht Mallidi? He might be considered if 'Vishwambhara' becomes a hit. But will he be ready for it is a moot question.
Who will direct 'Indra 2'? B Gopal? Boyapati Sreenu? VV Vinayak? The first and last of the three are out of form. The second one's schedule is packed for the next 3-4 years.
While sequels to 'Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari' and 'Indra' are wishes that can't be wished away, finding the right directors for them is currently in the realm of fantasy.
