Karthi has opened up about his upcoming Diwali release, 'Japan'. In his latest interview, the 'Ponniyin Selvan' star said that the film is a crime thriller involving a manhunt plot.

"It is rooted, flamboyant. My character is quite cocky. The film has the potential to be showcased to an international audience," he told Variety, adding that director Raju Murugan's treatment is quite local in its flavour. Dream Warrior Pictures has produced the Diwali release, which will have a simultaneous release in Telugu, Tamil and the other major South Indian languages.

Anu Emmanuel, Vijay Milton and others are part of the cast. 'Japan' has music by GV Prakash Kumar. Philomin Raj (Editor), Anl Arasu (stunts), Vinesh Banglan (production design), Praveen Raja (costumes), Mahendran (art), Tappas Nayak (sound design), and Sandy (dance choreography) have worked on the movie.

Karthi is also doing a fantasy action entertainer directed by Nalan Kumarasamy. Besides, he is doing a coming-of-age film for which C Prem Kumar of '96' fame is wielding the megaphone.
