The 2024 Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections are going to be a tightly-contested affair. The ruling YCP is now gearing up with at least two politically-charged movies that rail against the TDP and buttress its own credentials.
'Vyooham' and 'Yatra 2' are the ones. The former is directed by Ram Gopal Varma. The latter is directed by Mahi V Raghav. RGV's film is expected to be quite blatant in its anti-TDP stance. On the other hand, 'Yatra 2' is expected to be more pro-YCP and pro-Jagan than being interested in villainizing Chandrababu Naidu.
On the other hand, 'Prathinidhi 2' is expected to be a dramatic, bold, creative anti-government movie. Helmed by journalist Murthy Devagupthapu, the film stars Nara Rohit in the lead.
Unlike 'Vyooham' and 'Yatra 2', 'Prathinidhi 2' stands a better chance of attracting fence-sitters. Reasons? It is going to have a plot (which is what we expect while watching a movie) and some dialogues we won't be able to predict. Creative liberties can be taken at will by the makers, considering the film is not about any real-life political personality or known event. With 'Vyooham', we all know what RGV's treatment is going to be like. With 'Yatra 2', we know the events that Mahi is going to narrate.
In short, Nara Rohit's movie seems to be for the cine audience who might be influenced by its political ideology in unexpected ways. 'Vyooham' and 'Yatra 2' appear quite predictable.
'Prathinidhi 2' will hit the cinemas on January 25, 2024. 'Yatra 2' is slated to be released in theatres in February 2024. 'Vyooham' is going to be released in late 2023, most probably.
