Twist in Bollywood drugs case: Actors may have nothing to worry

A drugs scandal hit Bollywood in 2020 after the sudden passing away of Sushant Singh Rajput. Actress Rhea Chakraborty was the first to be questioned by the Narcotics Control Bureau in connection with the case. The likes of Deepika Padukone and several small celebs were also questioned later.

It seems the celebs have nothing much to worry. News18 today reported that the NCB has so far not stumbled upon any credible evidence. Moreover, there have been no seizures of contraband from premises connected to most of the accused.

The news report quotes an internal report doing the rounds between sleuths within the NCB. It's suggested that the initial investigation was not up to the mark. "The initial team of investigators into the drugs case has made it difficult for the current team to prove the charges," the news report quotes the NCB's internal report (not in verbatim).

If true, the celebs who were questioned can now heave a sigh of relief.

Some of the accused did try to procure, possess and consume narcotic drugs, as per their own admission during the questioning. But the same is not as big an offence as procuring, possessing and consuming drugs.
