Barfi gets India’s official entry in 2013 Oscars

The recently released ‘Barfi’ starring Ranbir Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra and Ileana D’Cruz in lead roles has become India’s official entry at Oscars in the category of ‘Best Foreign Language Film’. The film has surpassed 19 other films in the list of India’s official entry to the 85th Academy Awards in February 2013. The film created box-office sensation with its first week collections of more than Rs 55 crores. It’s a romantic comedy written and directed by Anurag Kashyap. The story of the film is about a mute and deaf youngster and his relationship with two girls, one of whom is autistic.

‘Barfi’ is UTV’s 4th film in the last 7 years to have been selected to represent India at Oscars, while the other three are ‘Rang De Basanti’, ‘Harishchandrachi Factory’ and Peepli Live’.

Producers of UTV Motion Pictures, which produced this prestigious movie tweeted: "We are so proud to announce that our #Barfi is the official Indian selection for the Oscars this year!"

The leading lady Priyanka who was overwhelmed with joy about the film's Oscar entry also mentioned in twitter: "Yaaaaaay!!India's official entry to the Oscars!!!Anurag sir,RK,Ills,ronnie,Sid n all!wish I was in India to share this!Go team!"
