Nightingale of India, Lata Mangeshkar has been chosen for the honor with Yash Chopra National Award for the year 2013. The legendary singer will be honored with the award, cash prize of Rs 10 lakhs and the certificate of merit. Rajya Sabha member and the award committee member, T Subba Ramireddy organised a press meet in Hyderabad on Sunday to brief the award details. He said, “Yash Chopra served the film industry for about 60 years. As a producer, I’ve a good association with him. We worked together for films like ‘Vijay’, ‘Chandini’ and ‘Lamhe’. He is one of the great directors in Indian Cinema who should be remembered forever. Hence the award has been named after him. Bharataratna Lata Mangeshkar garu is the pride of India.
