What Lokah did, even Aadujeevitham, Manjummel Boys couldn't!

Mollywood has produced three 10 million dollar movies this year. L2: Empuraan, starring Mohanlal in the lead, was the first one to do so. It was followed by another Mohanlal-headlined movie, Thudarum.

The latest one to cross the 10M mark is Lokah: Chapter 1: Chandra. The superheroine movie, starring Kalyani Priyadarshan in the lead, is produced by Dulquer Salmaan's banner. Made on a budget of around Rs 30 Cr, the film is creating waves.

Manjummel Boys (2024), which was a major global hit, had an overseas gross of around $8.8 million, which is close to the $10 million mark but fell just short. The film Aadujeevitham (The Goat Life) (2024) also had a strong overseas performance but did not reach the $10 million milestone.

It's surprising that Lokah could achieve what even the much-hyped Aadujeevitham couldn't. Manjummel Boys was always a small film to begin with.

Lokah shares another distinctio with Empuraan and Thudarum. It is a Rs 200 Cr movie like them. All three are 2025 releases. Whereas Manjummel Boys, the other Rs 200 Cr Mollywood movie, was released in 2024.
