L2: Empuraan, starring Mohanlal in a gigantic larger-than-life role, will be released on March 27th. Since Dil Raju's Sri Venkateswara Creations, Anil Thadani's AA Films, Hombale Films, and Sree Gokulam Movies are backing it, the distribution arena has been a blockbuster for the movie. The advance sales in India and overseas are fabulous. Early estimates say that the movie will gross an unimaginably big number on Day 1.
Speaking at a promotional event of the movie today in Hyderabad, Mohanlal said that it's time for the non-Malayalam audience to embrace Malayalam movies just as Keralites have embraced non-Malayalam movies over the years. He praised the cinema-loving culture of the Telugu audience on the occasion. The Complete Actor recalled doing movies with the likes of ANR. He added that Empuraan is more than a sequel. "Tollywood is the best industry in the country," Mohanlal said.
Prithviraj Sukumaran has a crucial role in the movie. He is also its director. The Salaar actor sincerely thanked Dil Raju for being Empuraan's distribution partner in the Telugu States. He assured the Telugu audience that the dubbed version won't feel like it is dubbed. He acknowledged the immense response for advance bookings on platforms like BookMyShow. On the occasion, he also touched upon the Telugu film industry expanding its horizons in the pan-Indian cinema era.
Dil Raju raised a toast to the progenitor of the pan-Indian cinema trend: SS Rajamouli. He also named Prashanth Neel and Sukumar in that context. "Lucifer, released in 2019, was made on a budget of about Rs 35 Cr. And now, L2: Empuraan has been mounted on a budget of Rs 150 Cr. This shows the rising range of Mollywood. The trailer, which is almost 4 minutes long, indicated that the movie is packed with grand elements," Raju said.
