Recently, actor Naga Chaitanya spoke about the prevalent Public Relations culture in the Telugu film industry. He added that many actors spend something like Rs 2-3 lakh per month on PR. He even suggested that this PR strategy involves running down other actors on social media.
In one of his latest interviews, actor Sundeep Kishan touched upon the PR culture in Tollywood. He also spoke a bit about why some production houses float posters faking box-office collections. Even when a film flops, the BO claims are pompous. "Out of 100 people, 60 people will always take those posters at face value. The rest 40 won't believe it but that doesn't matter," Sundeep said.
Sundeep Kishan is of course right. Not everyone is hyper-aware. If anything, most probably, not even 40% would be aware of the truth. They go by what actors, directors and producers speak at "success events" about their films doing "crazy" business.
