Mangalavaaram was released in theatres in 2023. While the storyline was pretty interesting, the execution was meh. The screenplay bored the audience for the most part, especially in the first half. To its credit, its background score was top-notch.
The buzz in the town is that a sequel to Mangalavaaram is in the works. The second edition of the crime thriller will reportedly be headlined by a top-tier actress, whose name will be made official in due course of time.
With Mangalavaaram, what went against its essence is the casting of Payal Rajput, an actress with a certain steamy image. The role should have been essayed by a newly discovered female actor with both charm and guile. One hopes Mangalavaaram 2 gets its casting right.
The film is directed by Ajay Bhupathi of RX 100 fame. His second movie, Maha Samudram, was a colossal disaster. Mangalavaaram 2 will be his fourth movie. It will be announced soon.
