Gurram Paapi Reddy is a new-age comedy that deserves your support: Brahmanandam

Director Murali Manohar says that Gurram Paapi Reddy shaped up extremely well only because of the liberty the producers gave him. The freedom they afforded him was so complete that he gets emotional just thinking about it. "All of us worked with the intention of showing Telugu audiences a new kind of film. Even though it’s new, we never moved away from our nativity," the debutant filmmaker said, speaking at the dark comedy thriller's pre-release event.

Speaking at the event, legendary comedian Brahmanandam said that he plays a judge who doubles up as a narrator. Tamil comedian Yogi Babu's character will be a "special" one. Jeevan Kumar, Raj Kumar Kasireddy, and Vamsidhar Kosigi are among the other artists whose comedy will impress the audience. Naresh Agastya and Faria Abdullah, he suggested, look so real in their get-ups. "If audiences support new-age films made by newcomers like this, the industry will grow and give them opportunities to make more good films," Brahmi further said.

Dialogue writer Niranjan said that Gurram Paapi Reddy steers clear of formulaic storytelling. "We made this film differently to give audiences a new cinematic experience," he said.

Actress Faria Abdullah vouched for the director's passion and the power of the uplifting background score. Saudhamini is her character's name in the movie. The Jathi Ratnalu fame actress is also gung-ho about having created a song for the entertainer. She thanked the NRI producers, calling them friendly.

Actor Naresh Agastya, as a master of disguises, has multiple get-ups in the movie. Thanks to the support provided by the producers, the shooting experience was stress-free. He promised punchy comedy, made special not just by the performances but also the dialogue.

"The only aim of Gurram Paapi Reddy is to keep the audience entertained. When we went along with a comedy entertainer, we knew the purpose we were setting ourselves up for. The audience don't like to listen to messaging in every other movie. Films like MAD, MAD 2 and Mathu Vadalara have worked in recent years purely on the basis of comedy. Their artists were very funny to watch. Gurram Paapi Reddy is in a similar vein," producer Amar Bura said.

Gurram Paapi Reddy will head to theatres on December 19.
