Akhanda 2 is a major failure in most territories: Trade Reports

Box-office trackers have declared Akhanda 2 to be a colossal flop. The film, released in theatres on December 12, saw a meteoric dip on its first Monday in most territories.

As per most trade reports, the sequel will give significant losses to distributors in Uttarandhra and Ceded, followed by North America. Nizam, where Dil Raju has done the distribution, will see the least quantum of losses.

Akhanda 2 has had a bumpy ride. The film ran into trouble due to a court litigation by Eros International, prompting both Nandamuri Balakrishna and Boyapati Sreenu to sacrifice large percentages of their remunerations. Distributors, from December 5 to 10, renegotiated theatrical deal values. As a result, the film's pre-release theatrical business took a beating, putting 14 Reels Plus in a spot. In retrospect, the postponement was a blessing in disguise for the distributors and a neutral development for the producers.

Akhanda 2 has been a washout in other languages. The complete decimation in the Hindi market must be hurting the team the most, considering that the nationalist-Dharmic narrative was expected to enthuse the Hindi belt.
