It was Miryala Ravinder Reddy who produced Akhanda under Dwaraka Creations. The 2021 blockbuster was released amid modest expectations and went on to shatter Balakrishna's previous records.
Akhanda 2, conventionally, should have been produced by the same banner. However, Ram Achanta and Gopi Achanta under the 14 Reels Plus banner came to bankroll it. Initially, 14 Reels Plus had Balayya's dates and didn't have Akhanda 2 in mind. They couldn't firm up any project in time for release before the 2024 elections. Boyapati Sreenu pitching Akhanda 2 happened rather unexpectedly. The producers themselves hadn't planned for it.
It's rumoured that Miryala Ravinder Reddy gave up on his plans to produce Akhanda because Peddha Kapu: Part 1 (2023) became a disaster. It was allegedly made on a budget of Rs 20 Cr, whereas its theatrical recovery was not even 5% of the budget. Had that movie not become such a flop, Akhanda 2 would probably have been bankrolled by Dwaraka Creations.
