Suriya's Retro: Trailer evokes curiosity

"A Love that waits, Laughter that maims and a War that liberates," the makers of Suriya's Retro wrote, unveiling the Trailer of their movie. 'A War that liberates' presents a paradoxical view of war. While war is generally associated with destruction and suffering, in this context, it suggests a conflict that ultimately brings freedom (to Suriya's character, we suppose). 'Laughter that maims' hints at a darker and more unsettling image. Laughter is typically associated with joy, but Retro might have something else in store.

Suriya plays a former rowdy who takes to violence after a pacifist phase because hooliganism doesn't leave him. Pooja Hegde plays his love interest or wife.

Director Karthik Subbaraj carves eccentric, colourul characters. Jayaram plays the hero's aide, while Prakash Raj and Joju George have prominent characters.

With music by Santhosh Narayanan, Retro has cinematography by Shreyaas Krishna. Shafique Mohamed Ali is the Editor. Art Direction is by Jacki and Mayapandi. Kecha Khamphakdee is the stunt director.

The coming-of-age action drama comedy will hit the cinemas on May 1st. Sithara Entertainments is going to release it in Telugu.
