The BJP is reportedly eyeing yesteryear actress Khushbu Sundar as a potential candidate for the upcoming by-election in the Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency. As per unconfirmed reports, her name has made it to the final list of contenders for the position.
It is understood that the BJP's central leadership has sought the opinion of the Kerala state unit regarding her candidacy. Her inclusion in the list is seen as a strategic move by the party, as she is a well-known figure in South Indian cinema and has a significant public following. The Wayanad constituency has been left vacant by the resignation of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.
In an interview in 2023, Khushbu Sundar said that she leaves everything for her party to take a call on fielding her. "I can be a multi-tasker. Even if I become a people's representative, I will continue to take up acting assignments," she said.
