Petitioner to court: 'Examine Lokesh Kanagaraj, ban his film'

Laughable petitions against movies and filmmakers are not uncommon. But, in the latest instance, all semblance of reasonableness has been thrown out of the window by a petitioner who has moved the Madurai bench of the High Court against 'Leo' maker Lokesh Kanagaraj.

He has requested the court to commission a psychological evaluation of the 'Vikram' and 'Kaithi 'director. Named Raju Murugan, the petitioner has also urged the court to ban the OTT streaming and satellite telecast of Thalapathy Vijay's 2023 release because it features extremely violent content.

The nature of the petition is utterly frivolous. The petitioner will likely be fined by the court for wasting its time. 'Leo' was given a go-ahead by the CBFC. It played in theatres for weeks. And a psychological examination is subjective and any creative process is complex, rendering the moral judgement of the creator impossible. Looks like the petitioner wanted his two minutes of fame and therefore railed against one of the most popular filmmakers of today's times.
