Kangana Ranaut has revealed that she was offered the leading female role in 'Pokiri' back in the mid-2000s. Puri Jagannadh, she disclosed, was the first filmmaker who recognized her talent and predicted in private that she would become a star someday.
Puri offered Kangana the role which was eventually played by Ileana D'Cruz. The 'Queen' and 'Thalaivi' actress couldn't do Mahesh Babu's film because, by then, she had given a nod to her first Hindi film, 'Gangster: A Love Story' (2006). Since Puri was fond of Kangana, he approached her for Prabhas' 'Ek Niranjan'. This time, their delayed collaboration materialized.
Kangana is next going to be seen in 'Chandramukhi 2'. The film, to be released in theatres on September 28, is carrying low buzz in Telugu. Director P Vasu's treatment looks outdated, if the trailer and teaser for the movie are any indication. Kangana will be seen as the titular character. Raghava Lawrence is playing the lead man. The music has been done by MM Keeravani.
