Vijay's 'Leo' up for a billion-rupee grosser on Day 1!

Early box-office estimates say that 'Leo', set to hit the cinemas on October 19, will gross Rs 100 Cr on its first day. For perspective, his 2012 blockbuster 'Thuppakki' grossed Rs 100 Cr in its lifetime run.

This goes to show two things: Vijay's commercial greatness has grown exponentially in ten years. Second, the appetite of the southern Indian audience for tentpole movies has grown by leaps and bounds.

The Rs 100-Cr gross on the first day will be the biggest in the history of Tamil cinema. Although films like 'Baahubali 2' and 'RRR' are much ahead, 'Leo' is still a huge surprise.

'Leo', directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, is going strong even in the Telugu States. As per trade observers, the action thriller will open big for the earliest shows on October 19. If the 'word of mouth' is positive, 'Leo' will easily gross Rs 20 Cr in the Telugu States in the first week.
