On Thursday, Vijay Deverakonda took to social media to write a surprising post. He revealed himself as a devotee of Puttaparthi Sathya Sai Baba. "I owe a lot to you. Happy birthday Swami. Love all. Serve all," the 'Kushi' actor tweeted.

Soon after, scores of Netizens started judging the star hero for a personal spiritual belief of his. They accused him of deifying a so-called "fraud" Baba.

In response, many fans of the actor and devotees of the Godman turned irate, and some of them put out their reasons in their defence of him. "Vijay was educated in an educational institution run by the Baba's trust. He knows more than anybody else what Satya Sai Baba's foundational principles mean to him," a social media user opined. Many fans reminded others that the 'Arjun Reddy' actor is well within his prerogative to make his spiritual choices without being heckled by a mob.

Meanwhile, the talk is that Vijay's 'Family Star' might not be released in theatres for Sankranthi 2024. The Dil Raju-produced movie might hit the cinemas in March or May that year.

Here is a clip from a docudrama about Baba. VD acted in it as a child:
