It is known that the 1998 blockbuster 'Tholi Prema’ is up for a re-release in theatres this June 30. An event was held today in Hyderabad in the presence of Dil Raju and others.

Sri Matha Creations declared that the Karunakaran directorial will be released on as many as 300 screens in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

Speaking on the occasion, Sri Matha Creations' Raghuram Reddy thanked producer GVG Raju for giving him the re-release rights. Describing the film as a masterpiece, he added that earnings from the major re-release will go towards Pawan Kalyan’s Rythu Bharosa Yatra for the welfare of the needy farmers of Andhra Pradesh.

People Media Factory's Vivek Kuchibhotla said that Power Star maintains the same enthusiasm and energy today from the days of 'Tholi Prema'.

Producer GVG Raju turned nostalgic, philosophically pondering that great films just happen and that they are not planned. He raised a toast to composer Deva on the occasion. Deva's songs were a massive hit those days. Songs from the movie were played everywhere for two years and they sound fresh to this day. The producer also briefly talked about how the love affair between Vasuki (seen as Pawan's sister in the movie) and art director Anand Sai blossomed on the sets of the movie.

Art director Anand Sai, who is currently also doing 'Hari Hara Veera Mallu' and 'Ustaad Bhagat Singh', thanked his long-time friend Pawan on the occasion.

Director Karunakaran said that he is forever grateful to Kalyan for the movie.

Dil Raju, who distributed 'Tholi Prema' in Nizam, profusely praised the movie. He added that he would re-release it in Nizam whenever he needed working capital as a distributor. He recalled how the classic fell into his arms after he paid an urgent visit to the film's producer in Hyderabad after learning about the project. Till 'Tholi Prema' happened, Dil Raju, then a distributor, had only one hit to boast of. That was 'Pelli Pandiri'. "During the 100-day function of 'Tholi Prema', an India-Pakistan cricket match was being aired on television. Yet, the famous Sandhya 70MM theatre witnessed houseful collections for the love story amid euphoric crowds," Dil Raju said. "I have made a number of extraordinary movies but 'Tholi Prema' will always remain special in my life," the Sri Venkateswara Creations supremo added.
