Not many know that 'Adipurush' has been inspired by an animation film based on the Ramayana. The 1992 Indo-Japanese anime film 'Ramayana: The Prince Of Light' is what inspired director Om Raut to reimagine the staging of the epic. He thus made 'Adipurush' as a live-action film blended with motion capture technology.

The Japanese film made new waves when it was released. The highly acclaimed animated feature film, which is considered the best of its kind to date, was directed by Koichi Sasaki, Ram Mohan (known as the father of Indian animation) and Yugo Sako, with the last of them developing its concept.

Netizens are remembering the movie at a time when 'Adipurush' is out in theatres. "That film was better suited to impress kids and youngsters. Years after its initial release, the Japanese animated series still remains up-to-date," a Netizen said.

Another user wrote, "I was in school when it used to be telecasted on Cartoon Network, mostly around Dusshera and Diwali. Watched it with great love and admiration even after watching it a dozen times before. Never knew it was this loved all over the country until the internet came along. Truly a gem."
