While the actor has since clarified that the post was made in a lighter vein drawing from an old joke about Malayalis being found even on Moon, BJP functionaries and sympathizers have accused him of insulting the ISRO. They are also accusing the versatile actor of cracking a classist joke on Prime Minister Narendra Modi through the tweet.
So far, two police complaints have been filed against Prakash Raj. There is a heavy backlash from a section of social media users and political functionaries in Karnataka, a State where he has contested and campaigned against the BJP in the past.

Several memes have been floated to insult the actor. Netizens are saying that the whole nation is praying for the success of the ISRO's mission whereas the 'KGF 2' actor has made an "objectionable" tweet.
