'Brahmastra' becomes Bollywood's 'Bimbisara', 'Sita Ramam'

'Brahmastra' (pan-India movie) opened to superb figures on Friday, with a lion's share coming from the Hindi version. Its worldwide collections on Day 1 are estimated to be Rs 67 Cr (Gross).

As per early trade reports, the Indian gross across languages stands at Rs 43 Cr, while another Rs 24 Cr came from foreign countries.

'Laal Singh Chadda', 'Shamshera', 'Raksha Bandhan' and several other major Bollywood flops had killed all hopes of a revival this year. 'Brahmastra' may not become another 'Sanju', but it definitely has revived hopes.

This has a parallel in how 'Sita Ramam' and 'Bimbisara' revived Tollywood's hopes after a series of duds like 'Ante Sundaraniki', 'Thank You', 'Virata Parvam', 'Pakka Commercial', 'Happy Birthday', and 'Ramarao On Duty'. Those two movies, starring Dulquer Salman and Kalyanram respectively, were released on August 5.
