When NTR warned Krishna he will lose all his money!

When Superstar Krishna wanted to make 'Alluri Sitarama Raju' in 1973, NT Rama Rao was the first one to discourage him. In an old interview, Krishna recalled the episode.

"NTR felt that the biopic would be so dry and asked me not to waste my money on doing it. He told me I will lose all the money I had made on 'Devudu Chesina Manushulu'. He suggested that we both team up for a film titled 'Kurukshetram' wherein I play Arjuna and he plays Lord Krishna. By then, the script of the Alluri biopic was ready and none in my team let me stall the project. They told me the script turned out to be great and that it will surely become a hit. Since I went ahead with the Alluri biopic, NTR was upset with me and didn't turn up for the 100 days function of 'Devudu Chesina Manushulu'," Krishna revealed.

NTR wanted to make his own Alluri biopic ten years later. "After Paruchuri Brothers entered the film industry, NTR asked them to write a script. They politely asked him to watch my film and do a new Alluri biopic only if he felt he should do it. NTR asked me to arrange a screening. After the show was over, he hugged me and told me nobody can better Alluri. He dropped the idea of making a biopic," Krishna recalled.
