'Kurup', a biographical crime thriller film starring Dulquer Salmaan in the lead, is dubbed from Malayalam. Written by KS Aravind, Jithin K Jose, and Daniell Sayooj Nair, the film is based on the fugitive Sukumara Kurup. Directed by Srinath Rajendran, the film is all set to be released in theatres on November 12.

The film's pre-release event was held on Wednesday at a star hotel in Hyderabad. Speaking on the occasion, the actor said that he is no stranger to the Telugu film industry. "I have been accepted here. They are loving me. And I have got good friends such as Rana Daggubati and Akhil Akkineni here. I am doing a film under the Vyjayanthi Movies banner, which has become a family for me. 'Kurup' is a universal subject and I hope it is liked by the Telugu audience," Dulquer said.

The actor's debut movie in Malayalam was directed by the helmer of 'Kurup', which is not just about the fugitive's criminal exploits but also about his childhood. "This is a killer story. We haven't made a hero out of Kurup. I am a bad guy in the movie. We have shown how many families were spoiled because of his misdeeds," Dulquer added.

The film makes a reference to the hedonistic and publicity-loving lifestyle of Kurup. "This film doesn't belong to a specific genre. It's a multi-genre movie. There is action, there is romance, there are thriller elements, there is a biopic kind of treatment," Dulquer said.

The film was made for a theatrical release. That's why 'Kurup' kept on rejecting OTT offers. "The shoot of the film got delayed due to the pandemic. We were not inclined to start the shoot when the vaccination was yet to begin," the actor added.

The 'Mahanati' actor added that he has been choosy in Telugu. "I am doing a movie under the direction of Hanu Raghavapudi. The production works are nearing completion. It will be released in theatres next year," Dulquer said.
