Many people believe Cinema has a significant effect on people as they inspire a lot from watching the movies. Leaving aside the films that spread positivity, the films which portray the ideology of anti-social elements like Naxalism are always having an objection with some groups of the public.

After the Maoist ambush in Chhattisgarh, where 22 CRPF jawans were killed, Tollywood's big-ticket films Acharya and Virata Parvam are facing the heat from a few quarters as they are based on Maoist background.

In view of the Maoist attack, the Hyderabad based organization Anti-Terrorism Forum met the Censor Board urging it not to issue a clearance for movies that promotes Maoists and Naxalism ideologies.

We know Virata Parvam is purely based on the Naxal movement that happened in the '90s while Acharya is about the story of a Maoist turned social reformer. While the films have locked the release date for 30 April and May 13 respectively, it remains to be seen what CBFC does now.
