Chetan Maddineni and Hebah Patel's Dhoom Dhaam heads to theatres on November 8. Also starring Vennela Kishore and many others, the film is directed by Sai Kishore Macha. In this interview, Chetan talks about his journey, doing a family-friendly movie, and more.
As a passionate actor, I have lapped up every opportunity that came my way. I did 'First Rank Raju', 'Beach Road Chetan', 'Rojulu Maaray', and 'Gulf' previously.
'Dhoom Dhaam' is written by Gopi Mohan, whose admirer I am. One certain thing about the movie is that it is a wholesome family entertainer. With this film, I have moved away from genre movies to big-scale cinema. From the Trailer, it is evident that 'Dhoom Dhaam' integrates commercial ingredients into its narrative. Fathers in our society go to any lengths for the sake of their sons. This is the story of one such father-son duo. The dad wants his son to chase excellence. However, a misdeed committed by the son complicates the life of a third person - a woman.
I found it hard to match the performance meter of someone as seasoned as Vennela Kishore. After he enters the scene in the second half, the film takes on a wholly new level of hilarity. His scenes are situated at a destination wedding. There is a similarity between 'Dhoom Dhaam' and comedies like 'Adhurs', where the male lead and the ace comedian in the story are co-existing characters. Vennela Kishore was absolutely a pleasure to work with. He was supportive throughout.
The recent pre-release premiere of our movie in Vizag witnessed audiences laughing their hearts out. They were in splits during the comedy scenes.
Hebah Patel plays the heroine. She is a bundle of energy, and is capable of transforming herself into the character she is playing in no time.
I am glad that Mythri Movie Makers' distribution arm is releasing our movie in Nizam. Another reason to be highly optimistic about the result of our movie is that the songs, set to tune by Gopi Sundar, have had a wide reach. The audience are going to enjoy the songs thoroughly in theatres.
We are glad that 'Dhoom Dhaam' is going to be released on a good number of screens. My conscious decision to do an entertainer instead of going with the trend and acting in a thriller, is paying off. All that I want to do is engage the audience.
I am currently not ready to divulge my next plans. I will talk about it after 'Dhoom Dhaam' releases in theatres this Friday.
