I am a Nature-loving rebel in 'Ooru Peru Bhairavakona': Varsha Bollamma

'Ooru Peru Bhairavakona' is heading to theatres on February 16. Its promotions have begun in earnest. Varsha Bollamma, who plays a major role in the supernatural fantasy, says that the film is exciting. Co-starring Sundeep Kishan as the hero, the film has Kavya Thapar in a key role. Produced by Razesh Danda and presented by AK Entertainments, the film has no similarities with 'Virupaksha', the actress clarifies.

Vi Anand's first narration went over my head. I was not sure if I would be capable of doing the film. Once he gave the full-fledged narration later, I was in. Bhumi is my name in the film. She is the only educated girl in the tribal dwelling. She is innocent yet strong. She looks quiet but has a questioning spirit. She is not the girl-next-door she comes off as. Unlike my previous roles that were sober, my character in 'OPBK' is a far cry. She has a lot of power.

As someone from Coorg (like Rashmika Mandanna) and from a family given to worshipping Nature, I found playing Bhumi extremely relatable. In our tradition, we have just three festivals in a year. Once we moved to Bengaluru, we started celebrating many festivals.

Director Vi Anand has previously made 'Ekkadiki Pothavu Chinnavada'. After landing this project, I watched that movie and liked how it was a mix of genres. I bagged this project because the director liked me in 'Middle Class Melodies'. While writing the story, he mentioned my actual name in the script. 'OPBK' is not just a fantasy. It is both edge-of-the-seat and entertaining. Kids will love the magical elements.

I have a good sense of humour. My friends find my jokes rotten, though! I am up for comedic roles in movies.

I will next be doing a film that requires me to spend 75 working days. It is not a regular story. I am not supposed to talk about it at this point.
