'Rahasya', starring debutant Nivas Sistu as a cop, is hitting the cinemas on September 9. In this interview, the lead actor talks about his background, sharing screen space with Sarah Aachar and others, working with director Siva Sri Meegada, Sunil Kashyap's BGM, the thrilling backdrop of the movie, and more.
I hail from Palakollu near Vizag. After my education, I migrated to Canada and lived there for 10 years, working in the software industry. During the pandemic, I got a lot of free time to interact with my friends. Someone from the film industry reached out to me for some help. He started talking about movie scripts. We discussed actors and movies. As a middle-class person, I had ignored my interest in movies for many years. My dream of becoming an actor resurfaced in my mind because of the interactions with the film industry person.
As a teen, I used to look up to the likes of Chiranjeevi garu. I felt this was the right time to debut in movies. I had my doubts when I wanted to make a debut. But, slowly, I gained confidence that if I put in the required efforts, I will cruise along.
We went to the floors with a bounded script. The script gave me immense confidence to give it a try with newcomers.
My mother's upbringing and nature influenced me a lot. She used to be a helping person. Even though I moved to Canada, my sentimental attachment to my motherland was strong. I felt like making a comeback to India and not be stuck in a 'Padmavyuham'. I like to take up a challenge only if I think I am fit for it. So, accepting 'Rahasya' had a lot of thought processes going into it.
I am not a trained actor. I have only used my life experiences while doing 'Rahasya'. I became mentally strong before facing the camera. On the first day, I was desperately looking for feedback from my friends. Their feedback was positive and my confidence only got strengthened. The vibes were positive.
'Rahasya' is a murder mystery involving a cop's chase. I can't reveal the core plot point. One thing I can say is that it's completely original. The reveals are made as the story advances. I have played a cop who becomes an NIA officer. I watched a few Hollywood movies and learned about NIA on Google. The crime thriller is new.
The hero-heroine duo is a married couple. There are ego clashes between them, and their banter is quite natural. The story has got two separate tracks involving two IPS officers. Their clashes are organic.
The audience will surely be glued to the screens, wondering what will happen next. I would say that this is a watchable movie that will surely not bore you. People will surely say it's a 'not bad' movie. I have no unrealistic expectations.
Javed Ali has sung a song revolving around the cot (titled 'Mancham'). The song has a concept behind it. It's not a random number. Bugata Satyanarayana, who has done a role in 'Rangasthalam', has got a role. Gedda Varaprasad, Dasari Tirupati Naidu, Veda Bhaskar, Karam Vinay Prasad and others will also be seen. Charan Arjun has given superb music; his choice of singers is superb. The BGM has been done by Sunil Kashyap and Editor SB Uddhav's guidance was invaluable. The BGM has taken the experience to the next level.
Nowadays, the script is the hero. If a good script comes my way after 'Rahasya', I will take it up. I want to set up a business establishment in India after returning from Canada. The intent is to generate jobs. I am also attached to social causes.
