Santhana Prapthirasthu is gearing up for a major release this Friday (November 14th). In this interview, actor Vikranth Reddy talks about the strengths of the movie, why the family audience will like it, and more. Directed by Sanjeev Reddy, it is produced jointly by Madhura Sreedhar and Nirvi Hariprasad Reddy.

I come from an IT background. As someone who grew up in Vijayawada, I was fond of movies. After moving to the US, my cinema visits only went up. It was when the Covid-19 pandemic struck that I left the US and moved to Hyderabad. I didn't want to wait for opportunities, rather I wanted to grab them. In that endeavour, I debuted with a film titled Spark. After its failure, I accidentally met producer Madhura Sreedhar Reddy, who pitched me Santhana Prapthirasthu.

Even though Santhana Prapthirasthu is about a husband with low sperm count, people of all ages can watch it comfortably. At first, I had my share of doubts as to whether it would suit the tastes of the Telugu audience. Once I read the full script, I discovered that the writing was introspective and tasteful. Since established stars shy away from such subjects, budding actors like myself have to go for it! Chaitanya is the name of my character. He is a software engineer by profession.

When Sanjeev narrated the story to me, I was sold on it. It is an emotional ride that will give the audience the right message. I had to put on eight kilos, wear glasses. By the end of it all, I was Chaitanya, my character. Chandini is a talent, working with whom has been a learning experience

Today's post-pandemic audiences expect newcomers not to follow the regular path. They expect us to try out fresh stories and new genres. Santhana Prapthirasthu is one such movie; its content is sensitive, but the treatment is fun-oriented. About three-fourths of the movie is like that.

Nowhere does the movie make light of male infertility. I can assure everyone our movie will offend none. About 30% of married couples face infertility challenges of one kind of another in India.

Having already screened several premieres, we are thrilled by the audience response. Many viewers have remarked that they haven't experienced such a wholesome family entertainer in recent memory, a sentiment that has brought us immense satisfaction.

I will be collaborating again with Madhura Sreedhar and director Sanjeev Reddy on a project titled Sarpanch. Set against a rural backdrop, the film will address certain social issues while remaining a full-fledged entertainer. I am also currently developing another ambitious socio-fantasy project titled Mrityunjaya Markandeya.
