‘Tholu Bommalata', directed by Vishwanath Maganti, releases on 22nd November. The film stars Dr Rajendra Prasad and Viswant Duddumpudi. Viswant talks about the film, his character and more.
Clash
Director Viswanath and I have been friends for a long time. He was the assistant director for my debut film, 'Kerintha'. He approached me with 'Tholu Bommalata' story when I was working on 'Jersey'. I liked the script and agreed to work on the film. Though my dates for this movie clashed with those I gave for 'Jersey', I managed to do this movie.
Not hero-centric
There is no hero in 'Tholu Bommalata'. It's not a hero-centric film. Every character is important. I got a play a very good role.
Real emotions
'Tholu Bommalata' is a very good family entertainer. It has real emotions. The characters are relatable. It deals with minor disputes between family members. The film starts with a grandfather trying to get his grandson get married to his 'maradalu'. But there are twists along the journey.
People who have watched the film got emotional during the climax. They congratulated us on doing a good film.
Never mind
I don't mind sharing screen space with other actors as along as my character is good. I don't do calculations like what's my screen time is, whether it is a lead role or not etc. Recently, when I was shooting in Kerala, Malayalee people recognized me as I did 'Vismayam' (Malayalam version of 'Manamantha'). That's what I crave for. My roles should earn respect for me. That's why I did films like 'Jersey' and 'Tholu Bommalata'.
Very friendly
Rajendra Prasad garu is a very friendly person. I was scared of talking to him initially, but he cracked a joke and broke the ice. I felt very comfortable working with him. The same was the case with Mohanlal garu when I working for 'Manamantha'. He was very friendly.
Music
Suresh Bobbili's background score is an asset for this movie. It adds a lot of depth to the proceedings.
Next films
I am doing a film, produced by Bhavya Creations, currently. It's a beautiful thriller. Chandrasekhar Yeleti has been guiding us. I am also doing 'Kaadhal' and 'Kakinada Kurradu'. One other project is in pipeline. I am happy with my career so far.
