Nani, who made his acting debut through the film ‘Ashta Chamma’ and had starred in blockbusters such as ‘Eega, ‘Yeto Vellipoyindhi Manasu’, ‘Yevade Subramanyam’, ‘Bhale Bhale Magadivoy’, ‘Nenu Local’ and ‘Ninnu Kori’ and some others, has turned into producer for Prasanth Varma directorial debut ‘Awe’. ‘Awe’ is the first production by Wall Poster Cinemas, which was recently founded by Nani. The film is releasing on February 16. On this occasion, Nani interacted with the media in a press meet held on Thursday i.e. on February 15.
As ‘Awe’ is going to hit theatres, Nani is quite anxious and excited about the film. He said, “I am feeling the same nervousness like how I feel if I act in the film. I always feel nervous before the release of any film of mine. I didn’t not get used to it.
Did you feel more pressure as producer? How did you manage?
Yeah. Naturally. This is my own film. Each and every aspect is my responsibility. It’s a risky job. I felt that our film industry needs this kind of films and therefore took up this project. It’s not that easy to manage things while I am busy acting in other projects. Everything I did on phone calls. In addition to that, the shooting of ‘Krishnarjuna Yudham’ is going on in Goa. There were poor cell phone signals while shooting on a ship and on the other side ‘Awe’ post-production works were going on. After completing the shooting of my part, I returned city a day before yesterday and started promotional work here. But, it is giving great pleasure.
Will ‘Awe’ receive applause from audience?
Definitely. But I can’t say whether it will receive now or after a year. But, what I can say is the film will definitely receive applause. This film is unique. It was made based on the true incidents. Each and every scene will be very different and something that we haven’t seen before in Telugu cinema.”
What made you to work with a new director?
A Hyderabad guy, who hails from Manikonda, has penned this script. With this we can understand how different he is. I just provided perfect artists and technicians to him.
Did Kajal, Regina and Nithya do this film only for you?
They trusted the script. We have given the remuneration what they quoted. I played producer role and they played artists and that’s it.
Will you be doing only on your banner as actor in future?
No. Many producers have trusted me and given me opportunities. They are the reason for where I am today. I will always be available to them. If a technician has guts and comes up with a unique script, I would work on my banner. It gives great happiness to me when anyone talks about new-age films after 10 or 15 years and touches the topic of our banner Wall Poster Cinema.
Are you submitting ‘Awe’ to film festival?
The process is going on. Recently, Tamil film Aruvi was sent to film festival. I’m confident that ‘Awe’ will get accepted into film festival.
Thus the interview came to an end with all the smiles on Nani face. Let's hope that 'Awe' will be one more milestone in his film's carrier.
