After stupendous success of ‘Magadheera’, now Ram Charan has been roped in to do an entirely different film under ‘Bommarillu’ Bhaskar’s direction. Playing a lover boy for the first time it’s widely expected that this movie would help Ram Charan carve a permanent place as a multi-talented hero. His uncle Nagababu has now heavily betted on him by producing this film with a theme different to that of Ram Charan’s earlier successes ‘Chirutha’ and ‘Magadheera’. The movie titled ‘Orange’ is scheduled to release on November 26th. In this connection Nagababu organized a press conference and talked about the title, the characters, Australian experience and much more. Some excerpts are:
On title of the film ‘Orange’, Nagababu said that the word ‘Orange’ gives freshness and a soothening feeling. It’s one fruit which has a mix of sweet and sour giving an exclusive feel to the consumer. He related these feelings and taste to the film ‘Orange’ and said that it’s a beautiful love story in Australian backdrop.
On Charan’s role in the film, he said that Charan is doing entirely a different role in the film. He portrays a lover boy image being an Indian youth living in Australia. His stylish looks and body language are trendy in line with today’s generation.
On his experience in filming overseas, Nagababu was quick to add that though he planned shooting major part in Australia, he could not do so due to the cost of production in Australia being very phenomenal. So he therefore had to restrict the shooting in Australia and increase the content within India.
On the problems to Indians in Australia, he said, “If one says there is a problem to Indians in Australia, it’s absolutely meaningless. Australians are by nature very good at heart and with high helping tendency. The Indians infact live very happily there. Yes! At times there are some problems which are due to misunderstandings between the Punjabis and the Lebanese.”
On asked why ‘Magadheera’ style was not continued for Charan, he said, “Infact while ‘Magadheera’ shooting was progressing briskly, it was Charan who felt that he must do some films in the genre of ‘Khushi’ and I too was very keen on such subjects. And that is the reason we have now ventured into a romance based movie ‘Orange’.”
On music, he was over whelmed in saying, “I want to happily thank Harris Jayaraj for his superb contribution in the form of music. All 6 songs of the film are already a great hit among the audience. Not only the lyrics and listening to the song, but also the videos show these songs a way apart from others.”
On Charan’s fights in the movie, he said, “Unlike in other movie where the fights are taken in a very supernatural way, in this film it’s been directed in a very natural manner something similar to the brawls and scuffles among young college boys. The climax scene also is a fight scene which took place in train as well as on the streets of Australia.”
On exclusive stuff in the movie, he said, “Since it’s on Australian backdrop, ‘Orange’ is mostly on urban way of living. If you ask about a very specific material in this, it’s sky diving. Though it was not pre-planned, on seeing the Australians having good interest in the sport we thought it apt to introduce the same. It’s a very interesting sport which if learnt properly can give the utmost fun. It needs alteast 4 or 5 days training before actually trying the first jump. In this film a jump from 14,000 ft has been performed by Charan and Genelia. Infact after they come down upto 4,000 ft, the parachutes have to be used. This performance needs guts and enthusiasm. No doubt, Charan and Genelia had that. I want to make a mention that the Australian stuntman Harris Decholas designed and executed the entire jumping process.”
On dances, he opined, “Charan’s steps in this film would appear very casual and normal. But at the same time it would give the much needed entertainment and even a surprise in the faces of the audience that how he performed such nice steps.”
On important roles in the movie, he opined, “In general I don’t act in my own banner but here I acted alongside Ram Charan Tej for the first time. Apart from Charan and Genelia, Prabhu’s character is also very vital and Shazahn Padamsee plays a key role in the flashback. This apart, Brahmanandam also plays a very important role which will identify more of him. Prakash Raj plays an Indian police officer in Australia.”
On budget, he said, “The budget of ‘Orange’ is only 10% less than that of ‘Magadheera’. But at the same time this is the 1st film for the successful director as well as successful hero who have given hits in their other two ventures individually. And now together, I’m expecting a bigger success which will be certainly a hattrick for both these talented personalities. I’m sure with the content of the movie and the contribution from the talented lot, this movie is sure to capture the audience and will be one of the best films of the year.”
Lastly he opined that this movie attracts the youth and the ladies simultaneously. He said, “The audience will certainly associate themselves with the characters in the film. Even after the movie is over, I’m sure the audience will keep thinking of this for atleast a week. Such will be the impact of the film.”
On his next production ventures, he said that he intends to do a film each with Bunny (Allu Arjun) and Pawan Kalyan respectively.
He concluded the press conference by saying that his son Varun Tej completed his degree and currently doing a course on films. It might take another year and a half to clear the present course and make a proper entry.
