Simrat Kaur Randhawa began her acting career in 2017 with the Telugu romantic drama film Prematho Mee Karthik, Karthikeya Gummakonda's debut movie. Its failure was a bad start for Simrat. She went on to appear in other Telugu films such as the OTT release Dirty Hari, in which she played a bold role, a character who enters into an extra-marital affair with the male lead. The MS Raju-directed movie would have become a theatrical hit had it not been for the pandemic. Bangarraju and Maya Petika later didn't help her.
Simrat stopped working in Telugu after 2023. Her career saw a significant breakthrough with the 2023 Bollywood blockbuster Gadar 2, where she played Muskaan, the daughter-in-law of Sunny Deol's character.
More recently, she received widespread praise for her role as a young Bharati Banerjee in Vivek Agnihotri's film, The Bengal Files. The film, which is based on the 1946 communal violence in Bengal, has her in a performance-centered role. "Simrat Kaur is a powerhouse performer. This monologue genuinely gave me goosebumps. Sad to see that such talented performers don’t always get the opportunities they truly deserve," wrote film critic Sumit Kadel.
