Legendary Hindi film actor Dharmendra passed away today at the age of 89. His final film is Ikkis, which will be released posthumously on December 26 this year.
This biographical war film "chronicles the events in the life of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal and eventually his martyrdom in the Battle of Basantar during the 1971 India Pakistan War. It also depicts the events that happen when Brig. ML Khetarpal (Dharmendra's character) visits Pakistan 30 years later."
The Maddock Films release is headlined by Agastya Nanda, the grandson of Amitabh Bachchan. "Fathers raise sons. Legends raise nations. Dharmendra ji, an emotional powerhouse as the father of a 21-year-old immortal soldier. One timeless legend brings us the story of another," wrote Maddock Films on social media.
Ikkis also stars Jaideep Ahlawat. Its music is by the Sachin–Jigar duo.
