Rajamouli's speech at the Globe Trotter event on Saturday has been a viral sensation. The portion where he described himself as an atheist and commented that if God existed, why then was the telecast of the title trailer not without hiccups, has spawned debates online.

Amidst this, controversies have come to be spun against him by a section of the audience. In a social media post from 2011, Rajamouli wrote that he doesn't like Sri Rama much and that he personally prefers Sri Krishna. "Rajamouli doesn't like Rama, but he wants to mint money in his name," an X user wrote. Mahesh Babu's character in Varanasi is directly inspired by the mythology of Rama.

In an interview with ABN Andhra Jyothi several years ago, the Baahubali maker said that only Bhakti Yoga requires belief in God. "Karma Yoga, Raja Yoga and Jnana Yoga don't mandate a belief in God. I believe in giving my 100% to whatever I do," the RRR maker said in that interview.

Rajamouli is India's biggest filmmaker. Which is why his remarks, even those totally unrelated to his craft, grab headlines and trigger critics. Really, what a man!
