Earlier today, the Telangana police filed a case against Vijay Deverakonda for allegedly endorsing a betting app. His team has clarified that he had entered into a contract with a company solely for the "limited purpose of serving as a brand ambassador for skill-based games".
The statement further added that the Family Star actor's "endorsement was strictly confined to regions and territories where online skill-based games are legally permitted".
Endorsing games like Rummy is not illegal. "After a thorough legal review, Vijay had agreed to endorse the skill-based gaming platform A23," his team said.
Vijay Deverakonda awaits the release of Kingdom on May 30th. It's directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri.
