Back in 2010, Karthi's Awara was released in theatres. Titled Paiyaa in Tamil (original), it had Tamannaah Bhatia as the heroine. Director N Lingusamy has revealed that Nayanthara was supposed to do the action-adventure outing. It was due to the actress' reluctance to take on a leading role in the road film that led to Tamannaah being cast.
During a recent interview, the Kollywood director revealed that Nayanthara said no to the film at the last minute. He explained that a mutual disagreement led to her departure, which ultimately resulted in Tamannaah being cast. He then described the challenges of filming a road movie, stating that they couldn't have caravans at every location. To address this, he said that three women would create a makeshift changing area using sarees, allowing the heroine to change costumes. Nayanthara was unwilling to go through the difficult process. Tamannaah played ball and was cast.
The director expressed his admiration for Tamannaah's dedication, and recalled telling her, "You will go places." Tamannaah has indeed gone places but Nayanthara remains a bigger star.
