In his latest interview, director Sandeep Reddy Vanga has taken a swipe at those who vocally criticized Animal but made it a point to praise Ranbir Kapoor in the same breath. They had a problem with the politics and toxic masculinity shown in Animal but couldn't muster the courage to point a finger at Ranbir for doing a film they thought was problematic. Vanga suggested that the partiality is because Ranbir comes from a noted film family, unlike him.
"I don’t understand the disparity. I understand they want to work with Ranbir. It’s easy to make a comment about me because I am new to this place. A filmmaker will make a film in 2-3 years, but an actor will appear five times," the Arjun Reddy director said.
In the interview, Vanga also spoke of an artist who acted in Kabir Singh (the Hindi remake of Arjun Reddy) being told he won't be cast in their film because he worked in Kabir Singh.
Ranbir Kapoor and Vanga are going to reunite for Animal Park. The sequel will go on the floors in 2027.
